DY Patil Stadium, also known as DY Patil Sports Stadium, was established in 2008 and is part of the DY Patil Sports Academy campus. The venue is known for its cantilevered roof, which is one of a kind in India, imported from Germany, and provides unobstructed views from any seat.
The stadium has a massive capacity of approximately 45,300 and boasts two tall LED floodlights to host D/N matches. The ground is also equipped with modern facilities, including a 120-seat media center, 60 corporate boxes, and bucket seating to host high profile music concerts like hosting Justin Bieber and Cold Play. Despite its higher seating capacity, this stadium usually serves as Mumbai’s secondary venue after Wankhede Stadium.
The surface here has natural grass at the top with South African clay underneath, combined with a sand-based outfield, making it a balanced venue. The venue has hosted some high-profile matches like IPL finals and Indian Super League (ISL) matches, and it’s widely known for its versatility within the complex.
