Sri Lanka Women's Tri-Nation Series: IND-W vs vs SL-W : Richa Ghosh Smashes Crucial Fifty

In the fourth match of the Sri Lanka Women’s Tri-Nation Series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India Women delivered a commanding batting performance, posting 275 runs in their 50 overs against Sri Lanka Women.

India’s innings began with a blazing fifty-run opening stand in just 9 overs, courtesy of Pratika Rawal (35 runs off 39 balls) and Smriti Mandhana (18 runs off 28 balls). Rawal, in scintillating form with two fifties and a century already in 2025, attacked with flair, while Mandhana played with her trademark elegance.

Their partnership rattled Sri Lanka’s bowlers, but a costly mix-up in the 10th over saw Mandhana getting run-out, ending the partnership at 51 runs. The momentum dipped further when Rawal, in the 13th over, was trapped LBW by Inoka Ranaweera, leaving India at 59/2

With pressure mounting, Harleen Deol (29 runs off 35 balls) attempted to stabilize but fell to Dewmi Vihanga in the 21st over. At 122/3 by the 25th over, captain Harmanpreet Kaur (30 runs off 45 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (37 runs off 46 balls) steadied the ship with a measured 44-run partnership.

Rodrigues, however, was undone by Chamari Athapaththu in the 36th over after Harmanpreet’s dismissal, leaving India five down.

Yet, India’s deep batting line-up, featuring Richa Ghosh (58 runs off 48 balls) and Deepti Sharma (24 runs off 30 balls), turned the tide. Ghosh’s aggressive batting saw her reaching her half-century in the 42nd over as she took on Kavisha Dilhari. The 52-run stand for the sixth wicket was broken by Sugandika Kumari in the 44th over when she dismissed Ghosh.

Late-order contribution from Kashvee Gautam (17 runs off 11 balls) propelled India to 275 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Sugandika and Athapaththu bagged three wickets each.
