The much-awaited India Tour of England is set to kick off on May 30, with India A taking on England Lions in a practice match. Notably, the A match will be played before the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season culminates on June 03. With the schedule clashing with the T20 League, players who are selected for India A and are part of the playoffs will not play the first Test match against the England Lions.
For the unversed, the Team India A players first batch of players will comprise teams that are out of the IPL 2025 season playoffs. The selected players will leave on May 26. Those not playing in IPL (Abhimanyu Easwaran, Manav Suthar) are set to leave in the first batch. Those players in the playoffs will be available for selection for the second Test. Notably, the IPL 2025 season is set to kick off on Saturday, May 17, with RCB taking on KKR.

India A tour crucial opportunity for players to stake a claim
With the sudden Test retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian Cricket Team is in transition. Also, it won't be an easy task to replace Kohli and Rohit in the Indian team. The two-Test series against England Lions will give some opportunity for players to stake a claim in the national team.
