Michael Clarke’s Ongoing Battle with Skin Cancer and His Powerful Awareness Message

In 2019, he went through three procedures for non-melanoma lesions on his face, including one on his forehead. Then, in November 2023, Clarke had another basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest, which required 27 stitches. Around the same time, he officially partnered with the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation.

With so much history related to skin cancer, Michael Clarke emphasized an important note on Instagram:

"Skin cancer is real! Especially in Australia. Another one cut out of my nose today. A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure, but in my case, regular check-ups and early detection are key," Clarke posted.

Clarke has been outspoken about using his platform to raise awareness on sun safety. He often talks about his duty as a father to set a good example for his daughter.

"I am a dad... I don’t want to go anywhere. The most important thing in the world is making sure I help my seven-year-old daughter, and I guess set a good example for her," Clarke told The Daily Mail.

Michael Clarke had an amazing career on the field, leading Australia to a World Cup win in 2015, racking up over 16,000 career runs across all formats, and becoming the first-ever Australian skipper to win a home World Cup.
